UPDATE - Tropical Cyclone Gita

20 February 2018

Air New Zealand has cancelled a number of services scheduled for this afternoon as former Cyclone Gita approaches and weather conditions are forecast to deteriorate. All Services in and out of Wellington from 2:45pm today through until midnight. This may have a flow on to effect other services.  

The following ports also have cancelled services until the end of the day:

  • Queenstown
  • Hokitika
  • Nelson (from midday onwards)
  • New Plymouth (from 11L00am onwards) 

Flights are currently operating into and out of Blenheim, Paraparaumu and Palmerston North, with conditions being closely monitored. 

Air New Zealand will operate additional flights tomorrow between Auckland and Wellington to accommodate disrupted customers.  These include:

  • NZ6141: Auckland – Wellington (Departs 0925)
  • NZ6142: Wellington – Auckland (Departs 1105)
  • NZ6143: Auckland – Wellington (Departs 1315)
  • NZ6144: Wellington – Auckland (Departs 1455)

A flexibility policy (WTPS 4221) will be permitted on all fare types for customers ticketed up to midnight Sunday, 18th February 2018 and travelling within Tuesday, 20th February – Thursday 22nd February 2018:

  • Domestically within New Zealand
  • Non-stop flights between Wellington or Christchurch and Australia.
