Lease aircraft operating 777-200 on Honolulu

7 June 2018

As previously advised, a global issue impacting Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines means earlier than expected maintenance is required on some of the engines fitted to our 787-9 aircraft.

In order to maintain our schedule and continue to get our customers where they need to be we have made a number of changes to our schedule, including changing the aircraft type operating on some routes.

As part of these changes, Air New Zealand has entered into a lease agreement with Boeing Group for a Boeing 777-200 aircraft which will operate all services between Auckland and Honolulu from 17 July – 3 September 2018.  The aircraft will be operated by Air New Zealand pilot and cabin crew who will provide the friendly Kiwi serviced our customers are familiar with.
